Retail is all I have ever known. Over the years, it has been a relationship filled with both challenges and growth. My time in corporate retail was not always easy, but everything changed when I found my way to Hudson Falls. In this small town, surrounded by familiar faces and shared stories, I discovered a sense of community that made me fall in love with my work again.

For more than six years, this space has been part of my life. Five of those years were spent here under Helen of NY, and a little over one year as Fern & Fauna. During that time, I have built lasting relationships with customers who feel more like friends. I have laughed and cried with them, shared stories, offered comfort, and sometimes a hug. Especially through the pandemic, we went through a great deal together, and those moments shaped what Fern & Fauna has become.

At its heart, Fern & Fauna exists to help women feel confident in their own skin. Size, age, or stage of life should never determine worth or beauty. Even on days when I struggle to see those things in myself, I believe deeply in helping others feel beautiful and valued. There is nothing better than seeing someone light up when they find the perfect outfit or the perfect gift that brings joy or comfort to someone they love.

A Name Rooted in Family

Fern & Fauna is also a deeply personal name. Fern was my grandmother’s name, and she represents family, strength, and the generations of women who came before me. Fauna reflects my love of nature, creativity, and a sense of wonder. Together, the name is a reminder that this shop is about heart, heritage, and care.

I am intentional about every piece I bring into the store. You will find clothing, jewelry, and gifts chosen for their meaning, craftsmanship, and individuality. I am proud to support brands made in the USA, small businesses, and local artists, including a candle maker right here in Hudson Falls.

Size inclusivity has always mattered to me. Every body deserves to feel beautiful. While growing this part of the business has had its challenges, it remains something I care deeply about and continue to work toward.

Fern & Fauna lives inside a building full of history. Many customers remember the mercantiles that once occupied this space when they were growing up or shopping downtown years ago. In a world full of online noise, I love offering a place that feels slower, warmer, and more personal. A place where shopping downtown still matters.

Fern & Fauna exists because this community exists. I am grateful every day to be part of it.
